Babies

I really like putting stuff on my lips
sometimes it makes me feel hip and cooler (than I pretend to be)
sometimes it makes me feel like I'm ironically channeling Barbie
sometimes it makes me feel I'm a eerie space alien (which is the best feeling in the world)
sometimes it's just lip balm that I'd swipe on before I go to sleep

"I, myself, am strange and unusual."

Beetlejuice (1988)
Tim Burton is one cool cat. I'll just put the lyrics to Shake Senora instead of rambling:

Shake, shake, shake Senora, shake your body line
Shake, shake, shake Senora, shake it all the time
Work, work, work Senora, work your body line
Work, work, work Senora, work it all the time
My girl's name is Senora. I tell you friends I adore her.
When she dances oh, brother,
she's a hurricane in all kinds of weather.
Jump in the line rock your body in time.
O-kay! I believe you.
Jump in the line rock your body in time.
O-kay! I believe you.

Jump in the line rock your body in time.
O-kay! I believe you.
Jump in the line rock your body in time.
Oh!

"Thirty, flirty and thriving"

13 Going on 30 (2004)
I’ll try not to be sentimental about a romcom, but this made me think about the choices I've made and how they shaped me as a person. Choices like the people I surround myself with and the things I do with the majority of my time. The ultimate question is: Do you like who you've become? Jenna doesn't. But she doesn't accept her situation, she changes. And that’s awesome because life is a fluid thing. I could never relate to this film because thirteen year old me thought everyone, not only boys, had cooties and all I did was read books. I really appreciated little Matt's dance to Talking Heads WISH I HAD A BUDDY LIKE HIM

"Only a certain kind of woman wears a backless dress with a Beretta 70 strapped to her thigh."

Skyfall (2012)
The people of Skyfall do not eat, rather they drink. Most people's bodies are made up of 70% water, Bond's vessel is 70% alcohol. Seriously, all the characters consume is liquid: scotch, champagne, martini, coffee, beer…as long as it’s a liquid stimulant, they’ll drink it. I'm not so keen on the Bond films, or any action flicks with unnecessary destruction and female objectification (I'm looking at you, Mr. Bay), but I felt compelled to watch it because everyone around me had been raving about it. I liked the soft-spoken Q and the iconic espionage guitar/trumpet work and the whole fabulousness of killing people (◕‿◕✿)

"I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.“

Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
It’s so peculiar that I forget it’s a high school movie. I adore everything about this film, from the soundtrack (the White Stripes and When in Rome) to the characters (even Uncle Rico). The middle-of-nowhere flyover state, the long stretching roads surrounded by fields, Deb's photoshoots, the physical education class scenes, Pedro’s cousins, the cinematography masterfully capturing all present awkwardness. And of course, I find myself quoting from it almost every day (whatever I feel like, gosh! frickin idiot!). Another fun trivia, I'd do anything to have Kip in my life.
